06 // Dream
Dream effects (optional): Defiance and a strong connection to the music one can hear mutedly blasting out from the headphones the entire dream.
Notes: Forgot to mention originally, so adding this but he's in middle school in this dream so like 10 years younger than he is now.
♬Dun da bon dududu da dun bon

"Shou-chaaaaan!"

"SHOU-CHAN, OPEN THIS DOOR AND EXPLAIN THIS LETTER FROM YOUR SCHOOL!"
Shouichi sighed heavily and pulled off his headphones and stopped his strumming on the guitar he'd been practicing with, music blasting out quite clearly from the phones as they hung around his neck. He didn't move to get up and open the door though.
"I told you, school doesn't matter anymore!"
His mother's voice softened a little bit behind the door, but not much. "Shou-chan, you've never had grades like this before, can't you do this music thing and study?"
He scoffed, he was passing at least. And he was still going, right? She should just leave him alone! "The music 'thing' is my life now, 'Kaa-san!"
"Shou-chan... Shooooou-chaaan!"
The red-head pulled his headphones back over his ears to drown out the worried nagging. He knew his mother was just concerned about him, but he didn't want to be miserable the rest of his life right? He should follow his passion!
Eventually the woman sighed and left. Only a few minutes later and there was pounding on his door. He rolled his eyes, got up and opened the door a crack.
"SHOU-I-CHI."
"Gah!" he stumbled back as his sister shoved open his door and barged her way in, giving him a stern look. "Wh-What?"
She placed her hands on her hips and lifted a brow at him, "You're worrying her. Where are your textbooks? Just pretend to study or something for a while."
Shouichi looked away, trying to look broody, but instead just looked as if he was sulking as he clutched at the guitar a little. "I burned them."
"You what?!"
"I burned them all. I'm going to be a musician and that's it. Forget school, I don't need it! I'm only going until I finish middle school next year," he declared firmly.
The older girl just shook her head at him. "Don't say that to 'Kaa-san, got it? Just pretend to be studying sometimes or something." She reached over and mussed up his hair excessively before retreating.
He sighed loudly as the door clicked shut again and green eyes flicked up to the wooden box sitting on the top shelf of his bookshelf in the room, a pair of horns stamped on the side the only real adornment. He'd been practicing for a few months now and he knew his resolve was strong. "Maybe it's time to see where this takes me down the road..."
The boy set aside the guitar and pulled off his headphones and crossed the room. Just as he was reaching up to take the box down --
*Shouichi woke, eyes wide and staring up at the ceiling in silence, a heavy feeling in his chest. After a moment he saw the soft blue light die down on the phone on the nightstand and he reached over, looking at the phone pensively a moment before shutting off the feed. It could have been worse....*
