That's... putting it mildly. [There is a breathless farce of a laugh.] You've... been asleep a really long time. I'll be right there, I swear it.

[He almost doesn't want to get off the phone now until he's home but that really isn't the fastest way to go about this and he could order food on the way in the meantime. Because he wasn't kidding, there was nothing in the apartment but coffee, maybe some tea, and old left overs...]

I'll be right there. [Reiterates before hanging up and hurrying home.]

[Byakuran would still be very much in bed. Not asleep, but lightly dozing. He didn't even shift at all until he heard the front door open and close, thus he started to push himself up with a great grunt of exertion. He was so stiff. Maybe he'd try to get a massage out of him later..]

[Shouichi all but threw his keys and ID badge onto the counter as he came in and all but ran to the bedroom, stopping in the doorway, panting.]

B-Byakuran-san...! [The look of relief probably spoke volumes more than Shouichi would be able to express in words.]

[Byakuran smiled, palms flat on the bed, propping him up. He chuckled.] You look like you ran all the way here... I was really asleep that long, huh?

I did ... run... all the way... here! [And he crossed the rest of that distance and dropped onto the bed on his knees and threw his arms around the other man.]

... I wasn't sure you'd wake up, damnit.

[He smiled, arms winding around Shouichi as he laid back, pulling him to lie down also.] I hope you've kept me nice and warm! I probably made a really good body pillow, huh?

If you could help it, I know you wouldn't, but... [He shook his head into the other's shoulder and took a deep shuddering breath. Don't mind his clinging, just a little...]

And please. Of course I took good care of you. I've even gotten some people looking after the shop since I couldn't manage it on my own anymore.

[He wasn't going to mention how some nights he never made it back into the bedroom. He hasn't been sleeping a whole hell of a lot and it's probably pretty obvious once Byakuran can get a good look at him.]

[His hands came up, brushing over Shouichi's cheeks as he got a good look at him. Leaning in, he pressed his lips to his and opened up the blanket, covering the redhead up as well. His arms returned to their place around his waist, holding him close and secure.]

You're too good to me. I don't deserve you at all.

[That kiss just somehow cemented in the man's mind that Byakuran really was finally awake and he squeezed his eyes shut to keep from doing something embarrassing like tearing up in relief.

He swallowed hard before looking to him again.]

Don't say such embarrassing things, I just did what seemed right. [But he did squeeze him a little at that.] Did you want that espresso now?

[Because as much as his body was now screaming for sleep with this relief and Byakuran holding him, he couldn't afford it right yet. He had work to do and he wanted to make sure Byakuran was awake fully and would stay that way for a while first.]

Mm... no. I don't think I need it quite yet. All that sleeping made me really lazy.

[He grinned at Shouichi and cuddled him, refusing to let him move very much; he wanted to keep him close, let him rest a bit. Whether he wanted to or not.]

[Shouichi flushed at that, it'd been a while since he'd heard such blatantly forward things after all.]

A lot of things are going on right now, but...

[It's been a month and a half. He would make the time if it was the last thing he did.]

You're awake, so it can wait. I can catch you up on things over the coffee later.

[And with the decision made, some of the tension still running through his body ebbed away and he kind of slumped in Byakuran's arms.]

I know. My poor Shou-chan had to be so strong, all by himself. I'm proud of you.

[Leaning in, Byakuran kissed his forehead and rubbed his back gently, trying to help him relax now that it seemed like he was finally going to let himself.]

We can talk about whatever is going on, later. The most important thing is that you're here and I'm awake now. I'm here for you.

[If he wasn't so exhausted and relieved, he isn't sure if he'd take offense at that or not. He knew the man didn't mean it patronizingly, of course, but he was stressed to a ridiculous degree and working on far too little sleep. Taking something the wrong way would be so easy.

Of course he had been strong and carried on. It's not like he was someone who would give up so easily. He had a will that wouldn't be extinguished in its own rite.

And he hadn't been working alone all this time. There were various forces at work in Somarium, he was just trying to do his best to add to their efforts.

But he was exhausted and far too happy to hear Byakuran's voice and have the reassurances, so he took the comments as they were intended and nodded quietly.

It probably helped that the hand on his back felt really really good too.]

I'm still worried about you, you know. You were asleep so long, you must be aching and starving.

I don't know how I really feel, to be honest...

A little blank, maybe. Like my body's awake, but my mind and soul are still trying to catch up.

[Smiling, his other hand came up to stroke Shouichi's hair, twirling a wavy strand of red around his finger.] You shouldn't worry so much. You worry about so many other things. Your blood pressure has probably skyrocketed! Don't have a heart-attack, okay?

[There was a slight glance away, before he murmured.] I'm more likely to drop dead of exhaustion or stomach ulcers than a heart attack, trust me. [Gave a sigh at that and shook his head a little, speaking up more clearly.]

I'll admit, I may have been over-doing it a little, even for me, while you've been asleep.

[He didn't want to have the time to fixate on just how long Byakuran had been asleep after all. And Somarium had provided him with all too many things to keep him busy.

But now with that weight of worry off his shoulders, the other concerns were a bit more bearable. He ran his hand slowly up and down Byakuran's back, watching his face.]

[There was a long look of disbelief at the endearment. That was a new one. And one of the worst yet.]

Your little what now? Byakuran-san, I swear, I think you try and outdo yourself...

And I don't know if I can afford a vacation right now. People are missing and trapped. We have to find them and I can help. But... maybe after things settle down. Even just a little. I want to sleep for a week.

[There was a hesitant pause as what he said sinks in and then there is a rush of explanation.]. . . I mean! I don't mean literally! I don't want anyone sleeping for a week or longer at all! But you know what I mean, right?
